says Brian Bennett:
My favorite picture of Randy is actually mostly of Butch, right after they drove the purple boostmonster on some lunchtime touring laps.

It is with a heavy heart that I have been asked to share the obituary for our friend Randy Smith. We look forward to sharing fond memories with everyone on Wednesday.

bit of crap news

I just read the following on facebook, posted by Karen Long Hintze: PLEASE say a prayer for Randy Smith and Jen Jarvi Smith. Randy's brave struggle is unfortunately coming to an end. He is with Hospice at this time and is being kept as comfortable as possible. Jenny is by his side and asked me to sh...

Re: Newbie questions about what to expect/prepare for

^^^ what he said. there will be several on-track sessions bringing you up to speed on saturday. racing line, find your apexes, braking points, shift points, flags, rules, controlled passing, nerves, adrenaline. plan on being exhausted at the end of the day. sunday will see more of the same, and you'...

Brian Naumann

from FB: Detroit Region SCCA We are sad to report that the road racing community has lost a shining example of a racer and a person. Earlier this week, Brian Naumann was found deceased in his home. Brian was a regular Spec Miata competitor both in the region and at Majors races. He also raced with v...

thanks guys. from you three, I consider this a pretty authoritative recommendation. feels better than trusting some guy in his driveway on youtube, although even that guy knows more than I do.

ugh, it's stripped!

I need some help/input/wisdom/whatever... while installing a new engine mount on a Honda B20, I stripped the threads of its hole on the block. I was assuming (I know, I know) that my only real option was to drill out the hole and re-tap it. then I did a little clicking and discovered HeliCoil insert...

2019 unofficial schedule

from what I understand, the race weekend schedule is all-but-official (see attached document) -- iirc it's just waiting on final approval with the OCSC, which in the past has pretty much been a rubber stamp, but rules is rules and all that... it's not official until it's official... there was also s...

Just got a big box of the most wonderful pictures of Waterford Hills today. They were donated to raise money for the worker's fund. Most are one of a kind. I just don't have words to say how fantastic they are. They are all enhanced and just so cool.
I can't wait to see them!

Re: WHRRI - Live Cam

the camera is showing live footage again now. any time there's an issue with internet connectivity in the tower, it will show an archived image. that has happened at least once that I'm aware of since it was set up. it also fell over/got knocked over at some point last week.
