2014 video

Making a video of your best race:

You still have a big smile on your face as you drive home from your race weekend. You finally passed that guy and you could tell he was thinking of excuses for half the race. Now its time to show the world.

Thanks to Go pro our new sponsor every race car has a front and rear camera.

Step one you play then upload your two in car videos to the new Whrri/youtube site where we can upload and edit race videos. Next you time index the video to the green flag.

You hope that the other racers have had time to uploaded their races. There are 19 other racers in your group, so you will have 38 more racing views to pick from to make your video.

Next you watch the race with the new 10 fixed cameras (sponsored by speed channel) that are mounted around the track to get all turns covered, these are fixed and are good because not everyone wants to see the front 2 guys.

You start to imagine what your finished video will look like, and start to think about how you can get more shots of the big pass. You could show your awesome pass in slow motion and from 4 different angles in the middle of the race. over and over.

Now it looks like you have everything in place to put together the big video. You have your in car video front and rear camera, and the tracks 10 fixed cameras. There are 19 other guys in your group so you have there front and rear that 38 views
A total 50 different views of race to chose from

Making a good video will be easy !

Yes I know i am dreaming !

the wish list of ideas:
Cameras
How many
Where
Is there ac near by
Could we put 1,2,3,4 cameras on one pole place ?
think, Bank surveillance cameras
We would look better then the NFL
Any body work for cable co or tv co
Cameras that run on DC power batteries
It would be to easy to mount all cameras to the tower, That's not what we want

If i am this bored now, its going to be a long winter!

My brother and I over the course of the last year have come up with dozens of different ideas for places to mount cameras. Maybe we'll consider bugging the chief steward this year to see if we can experiment with some of them. Maybe during practice days to see the feasibility. With the new Hero3 and Contour+ having wireless control right out of the box there is a lot of potential to mount them remotely in tough to reach locations and still be able to trigger recording.

A sample of our ideas:
-A zipline running down the back straight, along the wall, that can follow the cars from Turn 5 all the way down to Turn 6
-A camera boom off the of the sound tower to get vehicles passing by underneath
-Lots of ideas to use helium balloons tied across the track with a camera dangling off underneath. Think a balloon tied to the Hilltop worker station and the fence, directionally constrained, hanging directly over the cars as they pass underneath. This could be duplicated in several locations around the track.
-Mounted just inside apex curbing on a rotating boom so that if contacted by a vehicle it can spin freely back away from the track.
