Sunday nights

Postby surratta » Sun Feb 10, 2013 9:57 am

if no one takes on the job of trophies -- and I'm assuming that means they just aren't happening -- I think it'd be nice to still meet up at the club house and do all the ceremonial stuff, maybe even *pretend* to accept trophies. I bet (hope) I'm not alone in that...

but I don't know how much work goes into just compiling race results and determining how deep the podium goes -- so maybe this is like saying, "Even if we don't have trophies, it'd be nice if we still had trophies."

No trophies and we will probably quit. They're what we race for.

This really isn't about having trophies or not. We all want to have trophies be a part of our racing. It's about finding someone crazy/dedicated/loves racing enough to take on what it one of the larger and more involved volunteer positions we all depend on to keep our weekends on an even keel. And, unlike some of the race day specialties that get a lot of face time, it's a somewhat thankless posiition that's too easily taken for granted because very few realize how much preparation it takes between races or the physical labor of carting around and storing all those darn trophies. Even I would rather pick up an extinguisher and run headlong to a burning car over and over before I'd ever consider cleaning out a space in my basement to store trophies. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea.

So what we really need here is to find someone, who fits that description. "Crazy enough to be selfless for the sake of racing in and of itself"

And, they don't even necessarilly need to come from within our existing group.... This may be a wonderful chance to get someone else involved in the sport by jumping in with both feet and ending up immersed up to the neck.... Some people really are that Type A ..............

Let's all take a look around becuase that extra moment to talk to someone about this may be all it takes.
