Looking to Rent Gear/Car for 2014 Racing School

Postby robbadobba82 » Mon Jan 13, 2014 3:46 pm

Hi All,

Trying to get my budget lined up and hoping to take part in Racing School this year. I'm wondering if I could rent equipment rather than buy because finances may not allow me to get farther than racing school. I'm 6'2'', 180lbs, with a big head lol.

So I'll need

Suit (From online sizing charts I think I need an XL due to my height)
Helmet (I believe my motorcycle helmet is an XL. It's a Shoei RF1000 if that helps)
HANS Device
Gloves
Shoes
I'll buy the undergarments new
I will also need a car (I have no preference about having a roof or fenders, just something easy for a beginner to drive. I have run the track a few times before at the Fun Run after volunteering for a season).

Please let me know if I'm forgetting anything. Feel free to PM me or post here.

Thanks Everyone!

Well Rob, since you whet your on-track appetite in an RX-7........maybe you should talk to Bruce Wentzel about securing one of his cars for the season!

P'md

Also if you plan to eventually buy gear i'd highly suggest taking a little trip to go see Keith Averill over in Madison heights (http://www.racing-stuff.com/)

Thanks Brian! You're right that was Bruce's RX-7 I drove. I'll have to shoot him a message.

Clutch, do the OTD helmets have the fasteners for the HANS?

They have the attachment points... Does the HANS have the screws to go into the helmet?
