By way of introduction, my name is Mike Matune and I am a historic motorsport author/photographer/lecturer. My present project involves early competitive Mustangs. My intent is to prepare an article that identifies and recognizes those early pioneers of the marque as part of the 50th anniversary of the Mustang. One of those early cars was driven by Robert (Bob) Lyle Acton of Livonia. It was a red 64.5 'Notch-back" coupe which raced with number 74 at Waterford Hills, Harewood and Mosport among other places. He raced the car in the 1964 Spring Sprints held on Memorial Day weekend, May 28-30, 1964. In an article in the Waterford Register, he is shown as the only Sedan lll car on Saturday. The results of Sunday's event shows three Sedan lll cars, but Acton is not among them. I am looking for any amplifying information such as entry sheets, full race results, lap charts, correspondence, media coverage, etc.. Does anyone have any further information or remembrances of Acton's Mustang?
Thank you and take care,
M. M. "Mike" Matune, Jr.
