OTD #3 ( May 9 ) cancelled. May 6 General Membership Meeting Cancelled

Post by Franz »

Dear Waterford Enthusiasts,

This update summarizes the status of coming events as confirmed by the WHRRI Board online as of April 25, 2020.

Michigan Governor Whitmer issued executive order 2020-59 (COVID-19) which prohibits gatherings through May 15, 2020.

Despite still being prohibited from gathering, the new executive order does enable us to now kick off maintenance and track prep, so that once we are allowed to have gatherings of multiple people again at our events, we will be ready to go. Contact Jerry Pintar for coordination of OCSC and track access, and tasks, if you can help with startup prep.

Based on the executive order extension of restrictions:
• OTD #3 ( May 9, 2020 ) is cancelled
• The May 6, 2020 WHRRI General Membership Meeting is cancelled

Events pending sufficient relaxing of restrictions ( to be clarified in the coming weeks ):
- Driver’s School on Track is still feasible for May 23-24, 2020 ( contingent on government and OCSC requirements )
- 1st Race Weekend is still feasible for May 30-31, 2020 ( event without spectators - pending overall status – also contingent )
- Drivers School Classroom is tentatively set for May 17, 2020, with the format to being clarified ( remote or in person - with distancing )
- Vintage Race Weekend as originally planned is cancelled and replaced with an OTD planned for July 26, 2020
- Extending of the season is being discussed for proposal to the Township, with consideration also of the consent judgment – no guarantees on any extension.

Spectators are not planned for the proposed Driver’s School or the May 30-31 Race. Distancing, mask usage, and regular sanitizing can be expected if these events can be held.

Any participants or volunteers who have heightened medical risks, should plan on avoiding any upcoming events, for (at least) the coming few months.

The Director of Licensing and the Board has agreed to waive late member license fees for 2020.
You are still encouraged to mail your membership documents to Curtis Easterling to flatten the curve in member entry arrivals.

We are looking forward to getting things kicked off soon – once the restrictions are sufficiently opened.
We will continue our efforts to keep you safe and informed.

May 28th? Now what? Are we still going to race at the end of the month?
