Transponder.
Put it anywhere it will be safe and get a good view of the timing line on the track.
The transponder has nothing to do with track position (finishing position), just timing.
Otherwise there would be a Spec. place for each type of car.

transponder on the ITS #46 died and seems to have been overheated by the exhaust.
I'll be relocating ALL the RX7 transponders over the winter.

Almost done with the cage. Need to find a scrutineer to log book the car and want to ask about a couple things. Anyone on here a scrutineer?

I bought an ITB Corolla that was raced at Waterford but I did not get a log book. Could you pass on those contacts to me. Thanks

Let’s get this baby resurrected for the new year!

I have plenty of questions, so any help would be appreciated. I am more than willing to call someone direct, if easier, but I thought maybe others would have the same questions?

First off, I am intending on running the driver’s school this year (provided I can get the car done). I also plan to have the car on track for the entire season. I have some commitments that will force me to miss an event here or there but a friend of mine will step in during those instances. My goal for the year (myself) is that I would like to get my full licence (and by proxy my SCCA licence).

- Licence – If I am reading correctly it takes 4 completed races, at a minimum, to be granted a full WHRRI licence. And a full licence is valid to obtain a SCCA one?
- Rookie – What is the requirement, in terms of races completed, to remain a rookie?
- Season pre-pay – Is this by driver, or by car? Because of the aforementioned situation it would still be prudent to pre-pay if it were for the car since the intent is that the car is there every race weekend.
- Points – It is for the driver, not the car, correct?
- Reserved Paddock Space – Does the whole season need to be pre-paid in order to reserve one?
- Weekend “splitting” – Obviously a co-driver can run in the “crew chief” group – but can the races be split in a weekend? In other words, does the same driver have to run in the Saturday class race and the Sunday class race? If not, is there a penalty (like starting last on grid) for switching?
- Championship race – Similarly, other than not being included in the championship points, is there any “penalty” (even unwritten) for skipping the championship race in a weekend?

And these were seemingly answered elsewhere but I wanted to post them in case I misinterpreted in any way:
Points – All 12 races count for points (there are no drops)
Car Number assigned – generally can pick own, but someone who is doing the full season can reserve it
Physical – SCCA physical form would work for WHRRI

I know I will have more, but this should sum it up from the first go-round…

Yes there is a minimum number of races you need to successfully complete (safely/without incident) to be considered for a full WHRRI license. But also if you complete the WHRRI school, you can apply for an SCCA license because it is an SCCA accredited school.
- Rookie – What is the requirement, in terms of races completed, to remain a rookie? I'm not really sure about this since generally you'd want to progress from rookie status. Randy Smith is your licensing guru.
- Season pre-pay – Is this by driver, or by car? Because of the aforementioned situation it would still be prudent to pre-pay if it were for the car since the intent is that the car is there every race weekend. I believe it is by driver. Keep in mind that the prepay (in the past anyhow) gives you 6 weekends for the price of 5 so it could be a wash if you're going to make it to 5. Also, I'd recommend doing a WHRRI Life Membership if you're buying a track pack because after the second year, you're up $100 at least (not to mention other discounts). Something to consider.
- Points – It is for the driver, not the car, correct? Points are for the driver. In the unfortunate case that your car couldn't run, you could drive another for points (in the same class).

I believe the car would have to start from the back if you switch but I am not positive. Otherwise, you could have someone else qualify for you and then get in the car in that position for the race. It wouldn't be fair or safe to have an experienced driver, for example, finish at the front and then potentially have a lesser experienced driver start from the front for the next time on track. Someone else, please confirm?
- Championship race – Similarly, other than not being included in the championship points, is there any “penalty” (even unwritten) for skipping the championship race in a weekend? There isn't so much of a specific "championship race" as I believe it's just the last weekend of the year is called that since many class championships come down to the last weekend or even the last race on Sunday.

And these were seemingly answered elsewhere but I wanted to post them in case I misinterpreted in any way:
Points – All 12 races count for points (there are no drops) Each weekend if you race in one class consists of qualifying and a class race for points on Saturday. On Sunday there is a second race for points followed by a "feature" race that does not count toward the class championship points. So really it's 2 races each weekend that count toward class championships.
Car Number assigned – generally can pick own, but someone who is doing the full season can reserve it Yes, as long as your number is not already used by a returning WHRRI driver in the same class.
Physical – SCCA physical form would work for WHRRI Yes. And a little tip from experience is make several copies of this form after it is fully complete. Depending on your age you can use it for multiple years (see form) but will need to submit one each year. WHRRI does NOT keep this on file. Have your doctor keep one in your file, too, just in case you misplace your copies. Saves having to get the physical in a pinch when you planned on submitting your paperwork the next year :)

Welcome to Waterford Hills. I don't know all the exact answers to all of your questions but I don't want your post to go unresponded. I've responded to what I do know above in bold. Hopefully someone else can chime in and fill in the blanks or correct me if I don't have something right. Keep any questions you have coming and we hope to see you at the track!

Also, I can't stress enough how good the WHRRI Drivers School is. If you're considering it, stop, and just sign up. You get a ton of very valuable instruction and track time. Joel, JB, and the volunteers run a fantastic event. Hope this helps.
