Well, I did it. After successfully Co-Driving Jim Miller's VW Rabbit last season, getting signed off by Franz, and earning my full competition licence, WE BOUGHT A RACE CAR!!!! I am pleased to announce that Dennis(BEST Mechanic ever) and I (Suzy Campau) formed BloodSweat&GearsRacing and will be competing in ITB this season. We bought Dave Cizmas 1988 VW Golf. This car is race ready and I am super excited to get out there again for some good old wheel to wheel action. I still need a transponder, so anyone got one for sale please message me. Otherwise, once the weather breaks and we are done racing motorcycles on the ICE, we will be hitting the garage to get this "gorgeous hunk of car" painted and looking FAST :P Because any of you that know me also understand that VIRGIN WHITE does not fit me...lol. And in the true spirit of Bob Hannah and Vintage Yamaha Racing, I see a Yellow, Black, and White paint scheme in the future. As a new racer, I am very happy to be part of WHRRI, everyone I have met has been super kind and helpful. A true racing FAMILY!!!! Dennis and I have a lot to learn, but we are true racers and look forward to the challenges ahead of us as sports car owners. See you all soon.
Suzy & Dennis

" hunk" of a car,,, :)

Does this give IT-B a whole new acronym? (i say it with love folks,, it's just a joke,, :) )

Fast car, big shoes to fill. I am sure you will do fine.
So now, with Michel O defending, Get Hal Collins back out, and your new mount,,
Could be 3 Golfs running up front. Warren Martin will be happy!

Sorry, I just realized I posted this in the wrong Section, should have been in General Discussion.....sorry folks, only the first of many mistakes to make along this journey. And yes, Joel, this car and it's previous owner are HUGE shoes to fill, I understand this completely. But I am up for the challenge and for the first couple of years I will be content to hang at the back of the pack to learn all I can before I make the leap to a front runner. I am no rookie to the concept of SEAT TIME....and I plan to be in this seat for many years and many races. I have two goals for this year 1. Learn the car. 2. Be safe, exercise restraint. Speed and position will come with patience and consistency.

this is completely unacceptable! make another mistake like this, and you'll be permanently banned from the forums, and probably the club too.

WOW Andrew, you are so much more tougher than that picture I have of you frolicking through a daisy patch with a lollipop in one hand, and a glittery wand in the other chasing that big nasty unicorn. Clearly I underestimated you.......well played sir, well played.

...you might be right 'bout the glittery wand, though... ;)

(of course, that's 'cause he's borrowed it from Merritt)

Suzy, and all,,
The best Value for seat time, and getting acclimated to a new car, is DRIVERS SCHOOL.
Returning students get a substantial discount.
It's not going backwards returning to school, it's continuing education.

If anybody has to choose between skipping a race weekend over the season and school, choose school.
Your overall season will be better for it.

You could do more laps at school, than you did last season.
That is value.
Returning closed wheel traditionally get placed in run group 3.
That way it's not just a repeat school, you get new perspectives getting different instructors.
Maybe you can con Mike Patterson and Warren Martin to come and help instruct.
2 fast Canadians with a LOT of FWD experience . Warren was super smooth, which lead to very few D.N.F.'s .

Honest ? nothing.
Mike has gotten plenty of accolade and attention in his racing career.
I was giving props to Warren, as he was a quiet sort, and raced a Golf much like Suzy's new ride.

Smooth has rewards : helps keep repair bills down, and the laps times too.

Hey Joel,
You make a GREAT point about Driver's School. And if I can find the $$$CASH FLOW$$$ in our budget I will be at Driver's School again this year. I am very seriously thinking about it. It is a great value and the seat time in a new car is invaluable!!! Even if I can't participate in School this season, Dennis and I will be there volunteering for sure. I really enjoyed the Driver's School experience last year with The Rabbit. Everyone was very patient, helpful and professional. I am very thankful to Jim Miller for giving me the opportunity to Co-Dive his car, and I do one day plan to pay it forward. After I am done being selfish this year with my new car, I may take on a Co-Driver in the future. I really believe to grow our sport, there must be an ample amount of Co-Driving opportunities out there for newbies. I don't think I would even be here, now with my own car, if it had not been for Jim Miller and Bob Knoska. These two saw in me what was always there and only needed four wheels under me to ignite. For me, racing and competition is my passion, I have nothing else to live for and I will go to my grave sliding sideways full throttle with a smile on my face and fire in my blood.
