Let's say Driver A qualifies a car on Saturday morning in 3rd position ... Driver B takes over the seat in the car for Saturday afternoon Heat Race #1. Does Driver B start in the 3rd position at the rear of the field?

Driver's time is the issue. No time, start in the back (if approved by Chief Steward).

(note that, if a time is logged in the co-driver race, that is admissable and will be used)

Don't worry Jim, Driver C probably won't make it to qualifying either. We'll be on the road.

Driver B starts at the back of the field.

The driver is what matters, not the car.

Note that Driver A and Driver B would also both have to file separate registrations (and pay applicable fees) in order to share the car like that. Both drivers would also have to register with different car numbers (otherwise they would conflict with each other).

There is no opportunity for two or more drivers to share a car in Qualifying or Race sessions. Drivers cant randomly choose to swap cars, or put someone else in their car for random sessions.

The co-driver race is the only avenue for such sharing, and even then it is clearly defined which driver is eligible for each session:
Qualifying - Primary Driver.
Sat Class Race - Primary Driver.
Sun Class Race - Primary Driver.
Feature Race - either driver is eligible, though default is for Primary Driver unless Co-Driver signs up by 11:00 AM (?) Sunday.

Co-Driver Qualifying - Co-Driver
Co-Driver Race - Co-Driver
