Vintage weekend Update number # 1 , help will be needed!

Post by Joel Hershoren »

Howdy Gang,
Just over 60 days out and the event is starting to take shape.
This year the MGVR ( M-G Vintage Racers) group has chosen our event as focus event.
Their prediction for head count holds true. as we have just under 40 entries already, the vast majority being from MGVR. If all our regulars come back to play, having 120 to 140 cars is not out of the question.
There are going to be a lot of FIRST TIMERS to our track.

They have also requested to paddock together in mass, so will be be locating them out in turn two parking area ( where J.B. normally paddocks on club weekends )

This brings forth some added needs. Fridays we like to offer " tour guide " service to help get used to all the nuances of our little locale.
This includes a mini drivers school on Friday : AM drive around the track in street cars, giving them input and answering questions during the day, etc.
Think of a " Waterford Concierge " , just helping to make our vintage guests stay more fun and enjoyable.

Extra help in Tech is always nice, Friday, and then Saturday Morning is the busy time there.

Al always, extra help in Timing is nice, (Out of the sun i remind you ) Vintage folks like to have grids and results, Having 2-3 more bodies there to help the masses would be great.

With so many newbies, and cars out in turn two, will we need to add a few new positions for the weekend. Tour guides who get to hang out in turn two all weekend. ( oh darn ) . Services needed all in one, a pre-grid, paddock Marshall, a " hey, your race group in next" to help augment our P.A. system. Heads will need to be on a swivel to make sure spectators stay safe and out of the way if need be, watching for flat tows,
Ideally, it would be nice to have at least 3 folks hanging in turn 2 with the MG group, and also have one or 2 additional flat tow vehicles to support these folks.
Flat tow will help us stay on schedule, and be under the guidance of fire rescue.
The more the merrier ! Having too many folks to help would be great, as taking shifts is ideal.

As always, we always welcome help in other areas.
Shuttles, trash can detail , help at the paddock gate,

and yes,,,,,, IT WOULD BE GREAT TO : Have the Hot Dog Cart in Turn Six !
This is a fun job.... Hang out in six, selling tube steaks, pop, water, barley pop,
This is the most social of all jobs, offering constant interaction , and some good track viewing when nobody is in line for goodies.
Since it is concession, at least one person who is an O,C,S,C, member has to be on point running the hot dog cart.

Last, but far from least, is extra bodies in the Boutique.
Last year at vintage was re-opening at Boutique, and it did VERY well.
This year we expect no less, it is the best weekend of the year by far for the Boutique.
I remind you, it is out of the sun :)
