BMW M50 eng bits

Postby Nigel Stu » Mon Dec 30, 2013 3:26 pm

I have a few items from my ChumpCar build that I wont be using next year due to rule changes.

Set of ARP head studs/12-point nuts, Cometic MLS headgasket for BMW M50 6 cylinder engine (E36/E34 chassis) -

These were used in a race engine for 1 race in 2013, approximately 10 hours run time.

ARP Head studs and nuts: have been torqued twice (cyl head replaced after ~5 hours, engine disassembled after next ~5 hours), still measure same as new - basically good as new. - SOLD

Cometic MLS headgasket - debatable whether this are reusable, but if its going into a street engine it should be fine. Was re-installed after first 5 hours, no leaks or issues for next 5 hours of run time. - SOLD

Also have a short-block for sale - $200 (show up with $360 and you can have all the stuff in above post as well)

Clean block, good crank with recent bearings (~10 hours); spins freely, all bearings looked good with no wear. Fitted with trigger wheel, E36 oil pan/windage tray, front cover, oil-filter housing, oil pump chain, cam chain and new chain guides (~10 hrs). Will need some new seals/gaskets, oil pump (have the stock pump but the nut holding the gear on is stripped).

Loosely reassembled - bolts are tight but not torqued (lubed the main bearings with assembly lube, sprayed down with WD40 to protect).

Block was honed before running. Pulled apart due to an over-rev that damaged the valves/pistons (block / cyl bores OK).

Would make a good clean block to build up a proper race motor with.
