Spec Miata Tire Rule 2013

Post by EJ Lesher »

What is the Spec Miata tire rule for waterford, 2013?
I was planning to find the group buy program for Hoosiers (is there one this year?) but heard there was a Toyo double R tire being purchased by many.

I'm only running at Waterford, so prefer to run a sticky but high mileage tire that gets me through the season on 4-6 tires.

thanks!

Since no one else has jumped in here yet, I'll offer my two cents worth from our first season of running at Waterford Hills last season in Spec Neon, using the same tires as Spec Miata ... 205/50R15's ... "sticky and high mileage" are pretty much mutually exclusive.

We were able to get about two race weekends out of the Hoosier SM-6's:

The Hoosier dude that services Waterford Hills is the way to go.

If you want tires that last a bit longer and don't mind being about a second per lap slower, you could run the Toyo RA-1's:

Thanks for the feedback. You hit the nail on the head, for me. I'd rather run 1 set of tires all season and be a second slower than replace tires at halfway point--or after a couple race weekends.
So, does anybody recommend the new Toyo RR? I think that is the way I'm leaning. :?:
