rodent damage to tow vehicle

Post by surratta »

I park my tow vehicle outside during the summer months. recently I found out that rodents had been nesting in the engine bay, and they'd eaten through wires connected to my MAP sensor. the tow vehicle doesn't get driven much, and I'm wondering about strategies to discourage rodents from living in there and causing more damage.

anyone?

I purchased a spray from my local Hardware store (Frentz & Sons) that seems to work.
One of the latest issues with Automotive wires is, the outer coating (I've been told) is Soy based. So I guess in Summer, it might smell like lunch to your uninvited guests.

I've read (but not tried) that Moth Balls placed in susceptible areas can also be a rodent deterrent.

but then your engine bay smells like moth balls... umm, no.

I bought a rodent repellent spray that is mainly peppermint oil. going to try that next. will try to remember to report back.
