Track grindings

Post by davismat59 » Mon Jul 09, 2018 11:11 pm

At the OCSC board meeting the question was brought up as to the fate of the old asphalt grindings from the re-paving project. It seems other clubs understand there is a value in that material and there may be some possible uses around the grounds if some might be retained. If anyone has information on our arrangement with the paving contractor as to the plans/value of that material we could share with board it would be appreciated. -matt

I don't have 1st hand knowledge of the specifics of our project, but quite often the old asphalt can be ground up and mixed in with some new material to lay the bottom (course) layer.
You're right, it's too valuable to simply discard!

Yes the majority of the grindings will be reused for a base to lay the asphalt on. There will be extra but we are planning on using it on the access road from the gate to the track entrance and camp ground. The concrete on the track surface will be available but will be in larger pieces.
